Alison Austin was born and raised in District 5. Alison learned about the importance of a strong education and passing that knowledge onto others from her parents, Helen & Alphonso Austin. Alison attended Dade county public schools in District 5 and received her degrees in communications and hospitality. She hosted a TV show about important issues in the community and went on to work on issues of sustainable development in Caribbean and Latin American countries.
