Adopt A Special Kid (AASK), the first special needs adoption agency in California, was founded in 1973 by Dorothy and Bob DeBolt, themselves parents to twenty children, fourteen of whom were adopted. Since its inception, AASK has been guided by the belief that every child is adoptable, and has a right to a permanent place in a loving family. Today, in addition to providing training and social work services to families at no cost, AASK offers post-adoptive support and community-building opportunities, including our award-winning summer retreat, Camp ALWAYS, and the annual DeBolt Scholarship.
