Founded in 1985, A Fare Extraordinaire has been a leading caterer in Houston and beyond for almost 4 decades. Always woman-owned and operated, our founder, Karen Lerner, grew the catering business from a tiny kitchen to a bustling office bursting with creativity. Our current owner and CEO, Rachael Volz, started as a receptionist in 2005, quickly learning the ropes and eventually becoming co-owner in 2010 and sole owner and CEO in 2014. With Rachael at the helm, we expanded both our services and home base, moving to a 4-acre property in central Houston. Acting as designers, general contractors, the cleaning crew, and creative marketers, our team turned a 1942 munitions factory into our new home in 9 months. The vast space now houses a 25,000 sq. ft. venue, The Revaire, along with AFE’s offices, rental warehouse, and catering & tasting kitchens. We also rent office and warehouse space to creative industry tenants who add to our inspired atmosphere.
