Job Description:

• The Staff Accountant assists the Accounting Manager in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data in the general ledger. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in assisting the Accounting Manager with the timely and accurate production of monthly financial statements.
• Prepares journal entries by compiling and analyzing information
• Reconciles cash postings against cash received with the Patient Accounts department and business offices to ensure all cash received is posted timely and accurately
• Maintains databases that warehouse a variety of metrics including, but not limited to utilization of outside services and internal productivity
• Assists with monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting processes
• Ensures accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by reconciling balance sheet accounts and analyzing income statement accounts on a monthly basis
• Works closely with Advancement department staff and restricted fund account Managers to monitor and ensure the accuracy of the restricted fund account balances
• Strong knowledge of the organization’s general ledger structure, accounting principles and department policies and procedures
• Processes payroll-related outflows, reconciles payroll data to ensure processed outflows are accurate
• Serves as primary back-up for payroll and clerical accounting functions
• Assists with annual audits and various annual reporting

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in the accounting / finance field.
• Previous Healthcare experience is preferred
• Strong analytical skills

• Solid organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to develop and maintain relationships at various levels within and outside the organization
• Advanced technological proficiencies, inclusive of Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication skills including both written and verbal
