Position Responsibilities
- Provide care and companionship
- Follows the plan of care to assist with activities of daily living with safe and competent service to the client.
- Follows basic safety practices to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the client.
- Assists the client in maintaining good personal hygiene and putting client needs at the center of service.
- Encourages the client to become as independent as possible in accordance with the plan of care.
- Plans and prepares nutritious meals.
- Attempts to promote client's mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
- Provides simple emotional and psychological support to the client and other members of the household by establishing a genuine bond and relationship with client and family.
- Instils trust through maintaining confidentially in handling the client and associated family.
- Reports any change in the client's mental or physical condition or home situation and promptly advises Supervisor of these conditions.
- Respects the cultural and religious practices of the client and family background.
- Performs routine housekeeping tasks as related to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for the client.
- Prepares a visit report promptly and incorporates same in the client record weekly.
- Confirms on a weekly basis, the scheduling of visits so that other necessary visits by staff members can be coordinated.
- Works with personnel of other community agencies involved in the client's care.
- Attends in-service as required by regulation.
- Confer with the Supervisor about client's status and care, participate in the planning of service.
- Works within the Caregiver's scope of practice, as directed by the Service Supervisor. Does not have a supervisory role.
- Protects the home care agency by adhering to professional standards, home care policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a criminal background check which meets hiring guidelines
- Two satisfactory professional references
- Reliable transportation
- Current First Aid & CPR (required)
- Must be able to read and understand English
- Hearing, eyesight, and physical dexterity must be sufficient to perform a physical assessment of the client's condition and to perform client care.
- On occasion, may be required to bend, stoop, reach and move client weight up to 250 pounds, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
- HHA/PCA certificate (we are willing to train the right candidate)
