Booming IT Jobs Transitions – With a Testimony!

  • Link Copied

I hope you would have read my previous article on the rapid transitions happening in IT. In any case, the conviction would be undisputed if a strong substantiation is provided. Sabrina Beasley, who was a data entry employee eight years ago, is the evidence of successful transition in to IT. She is now a data analyst specialist for 500 marketing department and her current earnings are much than $20k that she had earned per year as a single mom before eight years.

A quick overview of her description about the IT transition will give you a better idea to decide your career in to IT upon your own interest,

Inception of my IT career

When I was doing Data Entry at a CPG firm, I had an opportunity to meet my director in a situation. I expressed my desire to take additional responsibilities as I was taking additional courses on Business Information Systems and Technical Management. He is in fact very big on internal promotion. Therefore with his approval I started mentoring with the Senior Data Quality Analyst and the Project Manager and also I worked on reporting, data flow and database maintenance, training, project documentations, etc.

I didn’t allocate separate time slot for my extra learning, because as I had opportunity to mingle with all types of personalities, thereby it paved me a path for learning within my work atmosphere

Rationale and benefits for my transition

If you are a person who gets bored quickly for doing the same kind of job daily, then IT is a great space for you. It’s a real of fast and frequent changes. You get more exposure and perspectives that define the skill sets of different people. The thing is that you should engage yourself with others in the industry. I love versatility and that brought me into IT.

Before gaining IT experience I was making $20K, now I have plenty of job opportunities that allow me to choose my own space.

Advice and Qualifications

Analyze your interest and work on it. You no need to go back to a full time school education to understand and study your interests. The world is open with search engines like Google. Of course, you no need any class to use Google.

Self- education is the best way, not only for IT but for anything you are interested in. one of my first mentors didn’t have a college degree at all; she didn’t even take college courses. Every job she’s had, she’s learned from people on the job. She’s completely self-taught. One of my colleagues has a degree in theology and bachelors in social work. Therefore your qualifications never act as a hindrance for transition into IT. If you are ready to adapt to quick changes and eager to discover and learn new things, you can succeed in this field.

Like a catalogue to use your newly bought gadget, I guess this can guide your thoughts to consolidate your choice of IT transition.
