Dressing up for an interview and position

She was working to her bones for the past 6 years. The D-day arrived. Her hair was dressed in low pony tail, slicked back. Her lipstick was on the verge of blackish brown. Donning a taupe suit and dull makeup, she might not either suit the position as a hair dresser or impress them with her skills.

I was taught on how to dress up for an interview, when I was a sophomore. Waiting to fly away with colors, I was always insisted on one thing, which could be nothing else than dressing up for position I’m going to apply.

“Clothes make a man!”

Yes, I believe in it very much. Dressing up like drab has got nothing to do with looking casual. Not everyone donning grey suits attract recruiters. And people wearing dupatta/stole for any outfit are marked out because bold and confident people love to accentuate.

Wearing black suit doesn’t fit every position.

Even people wearing smart casuals impress recruiters!

“Matching up company’s culture!”

This is not about the definition as it’s in India, for “Sure”. A real time definition of culture, people aren’t looked down, when they don high waist skater skirt teamed with crop top and flip flop.

Some companies sport employees wearing jeans and leisure shirts. Obviously, we get to work on company’s culture, before we decide our attire for a job interview.

Not everyone cold shoulders an odd man out, but “interview dressing works according to work culture”.

“Seeking a stylist at Macy’s!”

Still dubious after so much of industrious nights? Then, it’s good to ring the HR. They knew the trade better. Besides, we can seek a stylist at the retail outlets.
