We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Manager to oversee all aspects of tax matters for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, partnerships, and foundations within a family office structure. The role encompasses tax compliance, planning, and research. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical tax expertise, analytical thinking, and exceptional communication skills, and will thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Compliance Oversight: Manage the preparation and review of complex tax returns and reporting for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and non-profit organizations.
- Tax Planning & Projections: Lead quarterly tax projections, oversee estimated tax payments, and implement effective planning strategies.
- External Coordination: Collaborate with external tax advisors on workflow management, filings, consulting projects, and issue resolution.
- Document & Audit Management: Oversee the maintenance of tax documentation, ensure compliance with reporting requirements, and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Tax Research: Conduct research and analysis to ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and identify tax-saving opportunities.
- Financial Statement Oversight: Supervise the preparation of financial statements to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Other Compliance & Reporting: Manage additional filings and compliance items such as Form 1099, business license renewals, and annual returns.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor junior staff and work cross-functionally with internal teams to support related tax and financial activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of progressive tax experience, focusing on HNW individuals, trusts, and pass-through entities in public accounting or a family office environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. tax laws, including partnership and trust taxation, and
- related reporting requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and serve as a primary contact on engagements.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of achieving strategic objectives in a dynamic setting.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required
- Fluency in Mandarin (verbal and written) is preferred but not required
