Position Overview:
The Tandoor Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality Indian breads and tandoor-based dishes, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring consistency in flavor and presentation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with a clay tandoor and a deep understanding of North Indian cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook all tandoor items including naans, tandoori rotis, kulchas, kebabs, tandoori chicken, and paneer tikka
Marinate meats and paneer to perfection and manage daily prep for tandoor section
Maintain and operate the tandoor oven safely and efficiently
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure consistent quality
Work closely with kitchen staff to coordinate timing and order flow
Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the tandoor station
Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients
Assist in menu development and seasonal specials
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of tandoor cooking experience in a professional Indian restaurant
Strong knowledge of North Indian cuisine, spices, and traditional recipes
Ability to manage high-volume service periods
Must be punctual, reliable, and able to work in a team environment
